Every piece I create begins on the wheel, where a ball of cone 10 porcelain clay transforms under touch, rhythm, and patience. I shape and refine each vessel, always seeking a balance of strength, elegance, and function.
Once the form is complete, I let it firm to a leather-hard stage, trimming the foot and adding finishing touches. At this stage, I often decorate with underglazes and oxides, layering color and texture that will emerge subtly or vibrantly through the glaze.
After bisque firing, each piece receives its glaze — sometimes simple, sometimes layered with the underglaze design beneath. The cone 10 glaze firing vitrifies the porcelain, creating durable, glassy surfaces that are unique to each piece. I take care to sand the bottoms smooth, ensuring that every vessel is refined and comfortable in hand.
For select works, I add a final touch of gold lustre and fire them again at a lower temperature, fusing a luminous metallic detail that elevates the piece.
Every vessel carries both my intention and the unpredictable magic of the kiln. No two are ever alike, and that is the beauty of working with porcelain at high temperatures.
